Pocket EDC puts twenty-one field tools on the device already in your pocket: instruments and quick-reference cards for navigation, leveling, lighting, optics, and the field. Ten are free, including a true-north compass (full World Magnetic Model, not an approximation), flashlight, stopwatch and interval timer, camera protractor, mirror, and reference cards for fire craft, first aid, Morse code, cloud types, and the NATO phonetic alphabet.

A one-time $5.99 Pro unlock adds the other eleven: bubble, spirit, and plumb levels, a tilt and grade gauge, a barometric altimeter, a sun-aim signal mirror, a sundial, strobe / SOS, a magnifier, a searchable knot guide, and the Beaufort wind scale. Organized into four tabs (Navigate / Level / Gear / Reference). Every tool works offline; the only network use is verifying your one-time purchase.

Pocket EDC is on Google Play now and is coming to the App Store for iPhone and iPad (iOS and iPadOS 15 or later). The Pro unlock is a one-time purchase on whichever store you buy it from; because each store handles its own purchases, an unlock bought on Google Play does not carry over to the App Store, or the reverse.

Accuracy and limitations

Pocket EDC's compass, leveling, tilt, and altimeter tools read your device's built-in magnetometer, accelerometer, and barometer. These are consumer sensors that drift, respond to nearby metal and electronics, and need a brief figure-8 motion to recalibrate after a magnetic disturbance; the barometric altimeter estimates altitude from air pressure and should be calibrated against a known reference. Readings are useful for everyday work but should not be relied on for safety-critical, navigational, surveying, aviation, or professional measurement purposes. The Reference tools (Fire Craft, First Aid, Morse Code, Cloud Types, Phonetic Alphabet, Knot Guide, and the Beaufort scale) are quick-reference aids, not professional instruction; the First Aid card in particular is not a substitute for training or emergency medical care.

Permissions Pocket EDC requests

Camera

For the camera-based tools (Magnifier live zoom, Mirror front-facing view, the Protractor camera overlay, and the Signal Mirror viewfinder) and to control the camera LED for the Flashlight and Strobe / SOS tools. No video is ever recorded; frames are processed in memory and discarded, except when you explicitly tap Save in the Magnifier to write one frame to your gallery. Pocket EDC does not read your existing photos.

Precise location

For the Signal Mirror and Sundial tools, and the Compass "true north" toggle, which compute the sun's position and your magnetic declination from your latitude / longitude / time. On Android, this is requested only when you first use one of these features; on iPhone and iPad, the Compass tool requests it the first time you open it, since iOS has no way to read a magnetic heading without location authorization. Location is read on-device only and is never stored or transmitted.

Motion & fitness sensors · Apple only

On iPhone and iPad, required for every motion-sensor tool: Bubble Level, Spirit Level, Plumb Bob, Protractor's Surfaces mode, Tilt Angle, and the Barometric Altimeter. Android reads the accelerometer and barometer directly with no runtime permission.

Photo library (add only) · Apple only

On iPhone and iPad, to save a Magnifier photo to your library only when you tap Save. Pocket EDC cannot read your existing photos. On Android, saving goes through the system Media Store with no permission needed.

Internet · Android only

Used only for the one-time purchase and restore flow (Google Play Billing and RevenueCat). Every tool works offline; no tool sends any sensor reading, image, or location off the device. On iPhone and iPad, network access needs no permission, and purchases route through Apple In-App Purchase / RevenueCat instead.
